 Detective Inspector Lionheart
A septuagenarian no-nonsense police inspector
Detective Inspector Lionheart is a veteran crime-fighter based at Whitechapel police station. He's 74 - or 76, he can never remember - and curiously never uses his first name. Lionheart steadfastly refuses to retire from the force while there is work to be done, and was a constable at the time of the Ripper murders. He's a practical man and is initially disinclined to believe in the supernatural - but when the evidence starts mounting up, he adapts to his new role quickly.
'The Devil of Denge Marsh' sees Lionheart finally leaving the police force to head up top-secret government department MI-13, aided by Professor Dunning.
Lionheart is played by Nicholas Courtney.
